"Resisting" looks different in different spaces, but particularly coming from any place of privilege (🙋🏻‍♀️) resistance with a focus on impact vs intention, however small or large, means a lot . Helping out in community, doing volunteer work, challenging people to see things differently, donating to helpful causes, picking up trash, talking back (and back and back). It adds up. Resisting also requires curiosity, love, laughter, and... rest.

For me, this work mostly lies in public education- fighting for what my community needs, advocating, uplifting and contradicting implicit bias and celebrating (come visit!) what an extraordinary population of children, families, and educators I have the privilege to work with. Sometimes this means fighting with my own district! Educating myself too, around anti racist practices, healing, identity work, has made me a better human.

I have also learned that if I don't stop and take a breath, my body will protest in its own act of resistance. And so, there must be rest.

And oranges. In Judaism, oranges symbolize fruitfulness of a diverse community and the rejection of discrimination.
